Default Sony announces (confirms?) 250GB PS3 for the US.

Today, we announced the availability of a new PS3 system with a 250GB hard drive hitting store shelves on November 3. The PS3 250GB system has the same slim look, feel and features as the 120GB system, but with a 250GB built-in hard drive for $349.99. With the new, larger capacity, you’ll have even more room to store your favorite games, movies/TV shows, music, photos and PlayStation Network downloads.
Well I guess I'll be waiting if I get a new PS3, 350 for the 250gb one is nice, I was sure it'd be 400.

Even at $350 I'm not sure it is the "value" package. But, throw in a cert for a movie download and a game download of the PSN and I think Sony has a win.

decent pricepoint on that, although if you watch for good hdd deals, you can probably do better in buying the 120gb for $299, then buying a larger hdd for $50 (larger than 250gb)

Second controller? The new 360 package has one and I'm pretty sure it's also $350. If not, they need something else.

EDIT: Just double checked and I was wrong. 250GB xbox is $399 with two controllers. This PS3 pack is fine then. Still pricey given you could upgrade to a 500GB drive for like $90 at newegg.

250GB harddrives new range from $50 to $70 anyway at most places so I'd say it's a good deal.

Yeah, but a bundled set shouldn't cost the same as individual parts.

Umm, there aren't bigger, cheaper SATA150 2.5" HDDs for 50 dollars, looking at NewEgg the cheapest one that would fit on a PS3 (slim or phat) for 50 is 160GB and that would be smaller not bigger.

There are cheap, 500GB 3.5" drives for less than 50 though... but those don't fit without modifying the drive-slot.

Ehhh, I think it's fine as long as you aren't paying more than the individual parts. It'd be better if it were cheaper but hey, it's still a good deal.

Eh.....they should include an extra controller so it feels similarly valued to the COD: MW2 bundle.
