I'm going to assume Nobuo Uematsu on this one, but there have been more than just him.

One of thos econcerts came around my area a few years back but I wasn't able to go. It's probably the only time it'll come to Louisville.

Is it just his music or will Uematsu himself be there? Either way I'm sure you'll have a great time and I'm insanely jealous.

Yep. Thats him. I didnt know how to spell his name, and it felt like a disgrace to just put something that i thought sounded similar down.

I went to a whole concert of video game music. There was stuff from MGS, various FFs, Mario, Chrono Cross, Lair, etc.

It's cool at times, but most of it is really not meant to be listened to outside of gameplay and was thus somewhat boring/lame, IMO. They did One-Winged Angel with a choir, though, so that was cool. Also, the title theme from Chrono Cross was awesome. But most of it was bleh.

Was this the Video Games Live concert? The one with Tommy Tallarico heading it? I caught that last year when they performed in my city in February-ish, I think.

Have you listened to any FF music? It's beautiful! I'm gonna have a blast!

I'm pretty sure he'll be there, either way its live!

Yes of course, but most of it only works well in the video game. By itself, meh IMO. But there are exceptions. I could listen to the FF7 battle music all day long.

At the one I went to, they played a video message from him.

The Tallarico event was okay. I don't know how the Play! guys handled it, but Tallarico spiced it up with "mini-games" in between performances, like picking audience members to compete against each other for prizes, encouraging the audience to do the 21st century equivalent of waving lighters with their cell phones, PSPs and DSes, and even stuff like him personally ripping a guitar solo in the Sephiroth theme, head-banging with a cellist while he did it.

It would make a typical concert enthusiast pale and have a heart attack, but for gamers, I think he understood his audience.
