Default Trinity Universe new PS3 JRPG

Idea Factory, Gust, and Nippon Ichi are teaming up to make this new rpg. It's not entirely clear, but from the article it looks like Gust and Nippon Ichi are doing most of the design/writing while Idea Factory does the coding. All in all, as far as collaborative work goes, I think this is a better formula for success than Cross Edge. I'm certainly looking forward to what comes from it, not that I've written off Cross Edge yet either.

It sounds like a good plan. Games are bigger and harder to dev this generation and if combining forces is what it takes for us to see games from the smaller devs I love i'm all for it... Though I do really want Ar Tonelico 3 and Disgaea 4 for the PS3 =x

Jesus, what's wrong with these peeps! They act like it's hard to make games for the PS3. It's C++ for god sakes! I mean Christ, the PS2 was assembly and much, much harder to code for. You'd think they'd be cranking them out by now.

You realize there's a lot more to a game then just some code right? o.o;;;;

PS2 wasn't assembly... you can get down to that level to optimize stuff (same as in PS3), but most of the development was in a high-level language.

It would be nearly impossible to write most of PS2 software in assembly. There's too much abstraction required to do that.

I heard that it was mostly assembly mixed with C, but maybe that wasn't true since I never programmed on it. From what I've read though, it wasn't absent in creating PS2 games. In fact, a certain degree of assembly is probably a necessity for every game program.
