Default SHMUP's

I just ordered up a copy of one of my favorite shmups ever - Raystorm for the ps1.

I haven't played a good shmup in years, so I want to see what everyone's favorite shoot em up is.

I generally prefer the cave shooters to the side-scrolling shooters, but I LOVE Gradius. Ikaruga kicks my ass, but I tried that Triggerheart Excelica demo the other day and it seem pretty solid. I saw some Raiden game is coming next month, on disc, to the 360. Wondering if that's worth a damn.

Gate of Thunder & Lords of Thunder are two TG16-CD shooters that are now on Wii’s Virtual Console. Both are personal favorites of mine (yes, I had a TG Duo system back in the day). Also, R-Type came out on XBLA today and it’s awesome.

Lets see if you really like shrumps the DC is the place to be.

My person favorite is Border down. However it will cost you about $250 dollars to own that now ><

Anything by G rev is amazing. Under Defeat is great too. Senko No Rondo(wartech in america) can be had for like $9 and its great.

Dux is coming out for dreamcast soon and looks amazing..

You always have your classics. Ikargua, Radiant Silver Gun.

dont forget the hardest shooter ever

Musha Aleste is cool.

I love Toaplan games. They have this "right from the arcade" feeling.

Isn't the Genesis version pretty expensive? Or was that the PC Engine/TG16 one?

Its Musha Aleste on the Genesis thats expensive. I have 2 copies: 1 complete & sealed and a copy that i originally rented back when the game was first released.

Truthfully i rented it as a last resort since all the good games at the time were out. (This was in 90, 91) I only took it since the mecha looked cool on the box. I was mesmerized by the intro and especially the music. I ended up loving the game and keeping it. One of the best mistakes ive ever rented.

Its on the Wii now.
