Resident Evil 5 Potentially Supporting 16-player Offline Multiplayer

Looks like their might be a little more to Resident Evil 5 than meets the eye. Specifically, offline multiplayer featuring up to 16 players.
While having a close look at the Xbox 360 Resident Evil 5 boxart, the eagle-eyed folks over at D-Pad (via Videogaming247) noticed the phrase "system link 2-16." When contacted by Videogaming247 for comment, all Capcom would say was, "I can confirmed that our box art isn't lying. That's all though."

So if you're willing to lug a whole lot of Xbox 360's over to a friend's house, it looks like Resident Evil 5 has serious offline multiplayer potential. As to what exactly the multiplayer modes could entail, we'll leave the speculation up to you.

This was already shot down. By Capcom itself, unfortunately.

[UPDATE]

Following the article, Capcom quickly got in touch with TVG to inform us that the information on the box-shot is inaccurate. Allegedly itís an error and was supposed to state system link for two players - future downloadable content perhaps?

That would be absolutely retarded to play 16 player offline. 16 players on one screen with 16 controllers? Demented. lol.

Yeah. It's like a survival horror game about Chinese citizens.

"It's the year 2020. The whole earth is destroyed and there are only about 100 million Chinese people left"

The higher the number of players, the lower the fear factor.

Can you play offline two player? That would be sweet.

I wish you could link a PS3 and X360 for this purpose though, be so much easier.

You can also play 16 player offline! All yo uneed is 16 wireless controllers. Each player gets to partake in the epic zombie quest on a tiny 1/16th quadrant of your TV screen. Amazing! Revolutionary! 16 Player Resident Evil 5, only on Xbox 360!
