Default Street Fighter IV Review Thread

Quote:
OXM Review
“If you’re a fan of the older games, you’ll drop right in and enjoy yourself; the classic six-button controls feel perfect, and as you take different characters through Arcade mode, you’ll unlock alumni who didn’t appear in the coin-op edition, like Cammy, Rose, and Dan. Everyone looks as you remember them, only better. Exaggerated new facial animations make every attack look like it really hurts, and the game’s distinctive painted graphic style gives it the classy look of an interactive work of art.”

OXM’s final score: 9.5 — can’t say I really expected anything less.

PlayStation : The Official Magazine, which gave the game a 5 out of 5. Both magazines are owned by Future Publishing and both have exclusive reviews for their respective consoles.

Quote:
8.0 Presentation
Generally well-polished and clean, with PS3 and 360 versions performing almost identically. Anime cutscenes, however, are a joke and should have been replaced with in-engine storytelling.
9.0 Graphics
This is a sharp, elegant and sublimely well-animated affair. I'm still amazed at how fireballs look in this game.
8.5 Sound
Plenty of slick tunes to complement the fighting, with a sweet J-pop song serving as the main theme. IGN predicts sweaty techno raves wherever the game is played.
9.0 Gameplay
Street Fighter IV is a brilliant step for the franchise as it -- in most cases -- returns to the roots of the series. As with many fighting games, gameplay gets deeper with practice.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
A veritable horde of unlockables keeps single-player sessions constantly rewarding. Playing against like-minded Street Fighter junkies will keep the game relevant for years.
9.3
Outstanding OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I dunno Im not feeling the art style on this one.
Honestly, I think the art style they went with is the best compromise between 2D and 3D, since 3D fighting games sell well, and 2D for the nostalgia.

I said I was done with Consoles when I sold my Elite after just 5 months. I actually had seconds thoughts of selling it because of Street Fighter IV!

I'm back with my 160GB Sony PlayStation 3.

Not sure...I'm afraid I'll just buy it for nostalgic (sp?) reasons and not enjoy it as much as I hoped I would..we'll see.

I'll hold out for Tekken 6.

But then I'll break down and buy this anyway and serve as an online punching bag.
