Default I hate Call of Duty 4!!!

For one reason. It's too friggin' good. Seriously...every other top rated game is just another game to me now. I bought Dead Space about a week ago and liked it a lot but now I've already forgotten it and just wanna play COD4. I don't even wanna play FarCry2, Gears 2 or Fallout 3 because I pretty much know I'm going to just end up forgetting about them a week after and I'll be back at COD4 again.

Has anyone else ever had this happen where they find one game so overly addicting and perfect that every other game just feels obsolete?

I agree. I had to trade in my copy of COD4 because I played it too much.

The thing about COD4 is that you cant leave for 2 weeks and come back to it.
It takes commitment dammit

COD4 ruined a ton of games for me around that time.
Good thing they never raised the level cap, so i could stop playing instantly once i hit GC and golden dragunov.

Yep, Warhawk. I bought it when I got my PS3 in November and it's the reason I never really got to far into COD4. MGS4 was the game to semi-break the addiction and now, after about 650 hours, I'm only playing it sparingly.

Agreed on all counts. I find it funny how Halo was so hyped and then a month later COD4 starts destroying it in terms of users online, and it was a multiplatform release.

I don't say this much as someone who still plays counterstrike and Day of Defeat, but most FPS'es have been basically the same game for almost 10 years. COD4 totally blew my mind and showed me that it was still possible for the genre to advance gameplay-wise.

I'm not much into shooters (I do enjoy Halo:CE and the Orange Box), and even less into online multiplayer (with a few exceptions like co-op or Ace Combat). What is it about CoD 4's gameplay that makes it so great?
