No surprises here, a long while ago, we proved as did others that both VADER and YODA are both on the SOUL CALIBUR IV Xbox 360 retail disc (read here). But now, Dengeki reports that Namco has decided to CHARGE to unlock the characters, depending on which version of the game you have, it will cost around 6 dollars for Yoda and 400 points for Vader. Now we know why Namco removed our video from Youtube claiming 'copyright infringement'...
this officially puts soul calibur below DOA

400 MS points = $5, So Namco is charging less on the 360? Seems very odd, I wonder if the story is correct or if the pricing will change in the US.

Also, you put Tecmo in the title when it should be Namco.

I bet it will be $4.99 here on the PS3 as well. Chalk the extra $.93 up to the exchange rate.

That is the lamest thing ever, charging extra to unlock content that is already on the disc you purchased.

Well, my experience's with DLC have been good so far actually. Warhawk has provided some excellent DLC that wasn't on the disc to begin with.

Ya, there's both good and bad DLC. This is really where people need to "vote with their wallet" to send a message to publishers about what works and what doesn't.

I've noticed that too. Especially with some of the newer games like SC4 and Tales of Vesperia. Seems that now they just add in a ton of difficult or timely achievements/trophies, then throw in buyable DLC to 'cheat' to get them. Seems kind of fucked up to me. Either make achievements/trophies obtainable or don't. I don't mind hard achievements/trophies, but allowing people to buy their way into them seems wrong.

That's not Tecmo.... that's Namco. And yes they are fuckheads for selling content already on a disc.

Just check the Vesperia or other SC14 "DLC". YEs I had to quote the DLC because it's not downloadable content. It's actually downloadable rights to content on Disc. I acronym thee DRCR
