Default Disc Error

Let me start by saying that I don't play my Wii that often but when I do, I enjoy playing it.

Last night I had the urge to get off my ass and play some Wii Sports. I hadn't played it in months. Last time I played it, I had the original (day 1) system os installed only because I couldn't get online with it at that particular time. About a month ago, I was finally able to go online with the Wii and installed the latest update (2.2u). I also downloaded some VC games. Everything seemed fine... but then again, I only played the VC games at that particular time. Jumping back to last night, Wii Sports wouldn't load (disc error/eject/reboot) but I could load Zelda and Red Steel... so it doesn't seem to be a drive problem.

Did you try cleaning the disc or checking for scratches that need to be buffed out?

While it seems pretty early, the first thing that comes to my mind is disc rot.

Disc rot is usually not visible to the naked eye - cannot say I have ever noticed it on CD Media but I suppose it could happen.
Seeing a physical flaking like in the pictures on your link, is highly unlikely. A CD-R disc can show holes like that because the reflective layer is at the surface but that's usually wear, not rot.
