    Default Nioh for PS4

Looking pretty great so far. Very Souls'ish combat crossed with some Onimusha.

Alpha Demo out and it's fucking hot! It's pretty much Dark Souls with a samurai skin and it totally fucked my shit up.

Here's the stream I was running. Might want to skip forward 20-30 minutes when I started to actually make it past the first couple of guys. Wish I had been recording my profanity filled tantrums each time I died.

Looks interesting. Can you just download the alpha demo from the store?

    Yep .
One thing they do now, I noticed, is they have these platform wars, like "Xbox is better than Playstation." That's nerdy to me. What the fuck is the matter with you?

Played up to the first enemy and deleted the demo, perhaps it's because I'm hooked on DS3 at the moment but nioh is not for me. Movement is awkward and combat had no weight to it.

Even the "framerate optimized" option didn't run very well.

Yeah, I noticed that the game was blurrier/jaggier AND actually performed choppier than the 30fps/"frame-locked" 'action mode'. (It's odd that they'd call the smoother version "movie mode" too)

Which is weird because the trade off for smoother performance is a drastic drop to 720p/900p adaptive resolution vs. 900p/1080p for the 30fps mode.

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.

What do you mean by weight to the combat? Kind of hard to judge a game by one weapon one enemy and a single stance with no upgrades unlocked.

In the DS franchise for example, your movement and sword swings have feeling of commitment and gravity to them.
I'm doubting this "walking on air" feeling changes in nioh with upgrades and against other enemies.
If it reviews good, I'll rent the full title and give it another shot.

I made it through the first few enemies, it just made me want to play Dark Souls or even Tenchu. I also found the movement to be awkward especially when blocking. I will play it a little more to see if it grows on me, but it just might not be for me.

I'm not sure about the "walking on air" movement will be fixed but the combat varies depending on what stance/weapon you're doing. The first enemy is pretty much fooder in the middle stance that it starts you in. Pretty much past that point you stop being able to just spam kill the guys and overexerting stamina puts you into a situation where you can't move or block.

Are you currently playing DS3? I recommended to some friends that were playing it (and it seems people on here are the same) that disliked it in comparison to DS which struck me as odd. I put in about 1 hour and never hit the first boss but it totally gave me the DS vibe.

Yeah, I've been working through DS3 and playing FFX when I need a breather.

I'm still not a total fan of the combat but nioh is scratching that soulsborne itch like no other.
Its worse flaw is the massive amount of unnecessary things.
Runs and plays well but lack of enemy variety is already boring.
