Default Doom

Some footage leaked out of a previous version that was scraped, perhaps explaining why the game was mia for so long. It comes from a former cinematic director at Blur so while there's seemingly no gameplay it gives you a look at the aesthetic they were going for. It looks pretty good, just not like a Doom game.

As for the version we're actually getting, ever since the description of the Quakecon presentation my interest has been pretty high. I'm pretty stocked to finally see it at E3.

I wish they had made this version of Doom honestly. I mean the people making it are gone now and we've got the creative minds behind the mediocre Doom 3 and Rage at the helm. Not a lot of faith in what they'll produce but we'll see! I actually replayed Doom/Doom 2 recently and... they are so not like modern shooters it isn't even funny. If you haven't played them recently it's an eye opening experience.

To me Doom 1 and 2, especially 1, are some of the all time classics. They hold up really well today aside from some of 2's level design.

I kinda bypassed Doom. I was more X-wing and Daggerfall that point up until Duke 3D and Quake landed. About 2 years ago I went back and played Doom 1/2 and the expansions though.
