Default The $99 Xbox 360/Kinect Bundle Hits Best Buy and GameStop

You'll be spending a little extra over time, but the upfront investment is nice and cheap.

I guess you end up paying $50 more than you normally would over the 2 years ($25 each year more). I guess it's not bad if you are ghetto and can't come up with the full cost right away AND want Xbox Live. At that point you are paying an extra $2 premium each month for owning it, without having to have paid full price for it u front.
Of course, you probably need a credit card to do this, so why not just put the purchase on your card then?

Yeah this is nonsense. Not to be too judgmental of other's and their financing choices, but someone who can't afford a $199 xbox 360 should not be spending a dime on xbox live gold monthly subscriptions.

Well, you see it all the time with cell phones. The model certainly works for them. I think the MS and sony are so desperate to stay afloat with their consoles, that they probably will try to emulate that model. subsidized consoles, free to play games...yeah, I don't see anything that can go wrong with that.

Lol yeah, and there are several obvious and important distinctions with cell phones

    I agree.

Cell phones provide an actual service. XBL is an overpriced middleman that relies on everybody else to provide the service.

So what happens if you don't keep up with the contract?

You get arrested by the fun police

My guess is that they ban your console from online play. Which, since over half of xboxs arent connected online anyways sounds like a really good plan.

And then they likely put you into collections, just as any large company with your name on a signed contract would do; and then it sounds like not such a good plan.

    Heh .
One thing they do now, I noticed, is they have these platform wars, like "Xbox is better than Playstation." That's nerdy to me. What the fuck is the matter with you?

Odds are it'll be handled just like subsidized smartphones. If you cancel early you'll have your subscription terminated and you'll be charged an ETF, if you don't pay that ETF you'll be sent to collections.

I honestly welcome the move to have subsidized hardware if we're going to have things like X-Box Live screwing with the online eco-system. I'd welcome a 149.99 X-Box 720 or PS4 on a 2-year XBL or PS+ contract.
    Great quotes on the internet:

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.
