Default "PlayStation Network" Becomes "Sony Entertainment Network" on Wednesday

The name change is happening across the spectrum, with the exception of the PSP.

Seems like a good idea given that it's going to take a lot of rebranding and refocusing by sony to turn clean up their finances. That's one thing they're going to have to do is streamline online perks and services across their products

I know, but itís such a minor wording change, at least they can pretend it has a future!

Seriously though, I wonder what their plans are for PSP. Will it be discontinued this year?

Nah, maybe next year though. I think it still has decent sized JPN games slated for it to last them through the year.

For the life of me I can't figure out the PSP thing either. It could be that the system doesn't bring in enough movie and music money to justify the extra work, but as hdinred says, it's just a simple wording change - there's no reason they can't implement that simply and cheaply.

well with the Vita now out, i'm guessing they're gonna slowly kill the PSP or least focus much less on it. i dont think it'll have the amazingly long life the PS2 has had. its crazy that system is still around and selling.

Wonder if changing the name is also because of last years hack's on PSN. By rebranding they kind of remove the name from the public eye.
