Default Warner Buys Batman: Arkham Asylum Devs

Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, it ensures that these guys will be able to weather a storm or two without having to shut down if they put out a few more titles that don't do very well...On the other hand, I'm worried that the talent these guys have may go to waste with the corporate hand pulling their strings now. Either way, they are a promising bunch over at Rocksteady and hopefully this will be a beneficial move for all involved.

Looking to lock down one of the most promising developers in the business, Warner Bros. has purchased a majority stake in Rocksteady Studios, the developers behind Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Warner lent a hand on the first Batman, and will be publishing the sequel, but that obviously wasn't enough for the film studio, which in recent years has sought to increase its influence in the video game business. This should help nicely.

"The Rocksteady team is very much looking forward to creating more great games based on widely recognised Warner Bros. brands like Batman", Rocksteady's Sefton Hill says of the deal.

They did one great movie game... hopefully they can pull off another. We all know that most movie games suck ass, so I hope that Warner doesn't relegate them to just making tie-in games for their movies... that would suck.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. Hopefully if they do get stuck doing another tie-in, they will be allowed to spend the time and money to make it a good game, instead of just pumping it out half-assed and counting on the name of the title to sell it. That seems to be the case for most of these movie tie-ins.

Looks like another Neversoft. Forever condemned to make license games. They'll deviate once, fail, then go back to making studio projects, and then get shut down.

Any game that features paid loot boxes should be rated AO.

Good, this game was awful. MUA2 was much better, they deserve what they get.

You should stop listening to the Peyote Fox. He only tells lies.

Oh god.... I'm feeling telepathic. Their going to have to do a superman game, it'll suck, and they'll get shut down.

Also, AA was not a movie tie-in or movie game.

A Superman game does not have to suck:

Also, about WB buying them, this may be a bad thing. Since they will probably force them to release movie based games around the movies, or non-movie based games around the same properties.

Better Warner than EA or Activision.

Activision sure, but I wouldn't say EA necessarily anymore.

There's a decent chance WB will make them put out more crap than EA would have.
