Smile A Long, Long Time Ago....(30 Years Ago Friday)

Yes, 30 YEARS Ago Friday, "Star Wars" opened and 1 billion geeks were born. What are people doing to celebrate? Any special plans?

30 years ago, Friday, I was standing in line at the age of 11 in Austin, TX. to see what would become a worldwide phenomenon. I have since seen Star Wars well over 100 times on every format available. I am surrounded by all types of memorabilia. So really I celebrate the film everyday. 30 years just puts it all in perspective. May the force always be with us.

I didn't see it opening day, but I did see it in the theater in 1977. I was pretty young, but I definitely remember it. I'm gonna watch the "original" on dvd Friday. Haven't watched the dvd since I bought it. I don't even think I've opened it yet. Wish it was anamorphic, but it will still be cool.

The "original" original? I kept my THX laserdiscs and didn't pick up the non-anamorphic releases.

I wasn't born yet either. (Though 30 is getting closer and closer to me ) But hey I guess this gives me a good reason to bust out the Trilogy DVD's again.
