Default Marty

I think this forum needs an official Martin Scorsese appreciation thread, one of the greatest directors of all time(the greatest in mine and many other's opinions) with great accomplishments like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas. I had recently been going through all of his films in order when in one of my film classes the final paper prompt was to select a director and show how their work adheres to the Auteur Theory, such great timing...

so lets talk about how awesome he is and how excited we are for his upcoming projects Shutter Island should be really good, i haven't been disappointed by any other Dennis Lehane adaptations and im sure this will be the best yet. Recent casting news of Daniel Day Lewis, Benicio Del Toro, and Gael Gacia Bernal in Silence have gotten me excited for that(I havent read the novel but i know Scorsese has been trying to get it made for years so i bet its good) And So I Hear You Paint Houses!!!!!!!!!!! I was very excited to find out about Frankie Machine reteaming Scorsese and De Niro with a very interesting story but then i was disappointed to find out that it went to Michael Mann(should still be good though) but this should be even better being a some what/potentially true gangster story and based off a great novel im very excited and i hope it goes through.

I've been on a Scorsese kick as of late too, watched Goodfellas twice, Taxi Driver, Casino and The Departed.

yeah, my kick probably started about the time the first reviews for the Raging Bull Blu-ray started coming out, Martin Scorsese has been my favorite director ever since i started really getting into film but i had only seen Raging Bull once or twice and i had never really gotten into it, so once the reviews for the BD came out i pulled out my DVD and decided to really get into it and after watching it i decided to go through all of his films in order like to watch him develop his style(I just finished Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and im pretty much going to devote all of tomorrow to Taxi Driver) and it was earlier today that my professor gave my class the assignment and i was like HA im doing that already, so that was pretty convenient...
