Finally... film #3 is in the making... written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.. called "Paul". (Two British comic-book geeks travel across the USA together.)

set for release December 2009.

Paul is about a pair of geeky British friends who travel to a comic-book convention on the West Coast; unlike their other films, this one has Mr. Frost as the dominant one and Mr. Pegg as the sidekick.

In those movies and in Spaced, Pegg typically plays the leading hero while Frost plays the sidekick. However, he has revealed that Paul, an upcoming film written by Pegg and Frost will reverse this dynamic. Pegg has also stated that Wright will not direct, Paul not being part of their 'Blood and Ice Cream' trilogy.[7] The completed script appeared on the 2008 Brit List, a film-industry-compiled list of the best unproduced screenplays. Directed by Greg Mottola as well... who Directed Superbad. Good choice!! Edgar Wright was probably busy with another film and Simon Pegg had to pull out of the Tarrentino flick "Inglorious Bastards" with Brad Pitt because it's filming the same time as "Paul".

Just to be clear this is not the third film in the "Ice Cream Trilogy" (part one being Shaun of the Dead & part II Hot Fuzz).

It's only a working title, but it will do to wind us up for now. Edgar Wright gave a hint as to what will complete the three-flavored Cornetto Trilogy begun by Shaun of the Dead -- rather appropriately, it will be The World's End.

The Guardian caught Wright at a London press conference, where the director announced a two-film deal with Working Title Films -- World's End with Pegg, and a separate action thriller currently titled Baby Driver.

Wright wouldn't give up much on what genre it would be, but admitted it might be a doomsday sci-fi piece. "It's kind of going in that direction." Sci-fi does seem to be an appropriate choice for the mint chocolate chip Cornetto that is supposed to appear. (The Cornetto theme is a tribute to Krzysztof Kieslowski and his Three Colors series, and a different flavor has appeared in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
And about that Cornetto ice cream -- it seems they have yet to properly reward Wright and Pegg for the free advertising. "We're still waiting for the box of Cornettos to be sent to us," said Wright. (Can anyone out there confirm if it really is a good hangover cure?)

There's no word on when we can expect The World's End to start filming, let alone be released. Wright has a pretty busy schedule with Ant Man and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Although if a SAG strike delays the latter, maybe we'll get something definite by fall.

I look forward to this film anyway..... it'll be somewhat weird with Pegg in the 'bitch' role though.
