Signed up on Sept. 5, where it said I'd get the card in about 5-7 days. Two days later, they updated with a 2-3 week estimate. A week after that they gave me another 2-3 week estimate. As of today, I still haven't received a card. So far, I'm not very impressed.

Since the card is MasterCard branded, what prevents you from using the card to purchase the IMAX or 3D showing and then pay the difference with your own funds?

I guess I should have complained on the forum sooner. Just got my notice that they shipped my card.

If you know the anatomy of how a credit card number is constructed, you can block this specific bank. But why would they, they don't get paid??

If I understood Josh correctly, the card won't work unless Movie Pass puts funds on it, so maybe it's more of a Debit card than a Credit card, or like one of those Gift Cards where you have to hit the exact number (or lower) or it won't work? Maybe someone else has a more specific idea.

It's very clearly marked as a Debit Card

I'm just wondering that once you've selected a movie and funds are loaded on the card, what would keep you from being able to swipe it at the theater for a different showing?

You can technically but the funds only go up to the 2D amount so if you use it for a different price, they will know eventually.

You could also try purchasing the ticket, swapping and then doing it but tbh I've heard that can be dangerous too because they might be able to tell.

I don't mean to use it for the full price of the IMAX ticket though. You could pay the $9.99 a month, swipe the card for the IMAX showing using only the 2D price and pay the difference out of pocket. Paying the monthly subscription and paying the difference could still save you tons of money if you could actually use the funds to go towards the IMAX showing.

You can print out the ticket, then go to CS, and request an upgrade and pay the difference. I've never been to a place that wouldn't allow you to change showtimes or upgrade to another experience. They want money, you want entertainment. They'll budge for the dollar.

Moviepass won't know because you're dealing with an already issued ticket for the amount agreed. The card won't be charged for the upgrade because you don't have to give them that card.
