That's a pretty strong thing to say, especially for your first post.

What reviews did you have problems with? Why? I'm curious as to why you have that opinion.

I think that Peter (and his fellow reviewers on the site) are all excellent. While I may not completely agree with every little thing they say, I don't think they're nearly as bad as you say. But, that's just my opinion.

I hate to be the evil-doer here but I couldn't help myself...

First of all I disagree with you. Like Chad pointed out, that is a strong opinion to post for your first.

Second of all, it is threads like this that have sparked the thread below...

Ban him. He unnecessarily "called out a mod" (a reviewer is a site employee and in my mind equal to a moderator) in an open forum. Anybody who "introduces themselves" in that manner is useless.

I agree to that the reviews by Peter M. Bracke seams a a bit weird and useless. I haven't comment the reviews before because I don't usually read them so well but the name Peter Brakcke got my attention the first time then he as one of the few (only review?) did not thing Casino Royale a good PQ.

I thought that I could be right and that he was not biased because it was the first time I noticed his name and even if it looked biased, one time is no time. But unfortunately it seams like it has continued since then (and probably before CR). Latest review of The River for HD-DVD from Peter got the Bottom line "Give it a Rent" with three stars in total with only three stars in movie, PQ and AQ while for example House of Flying Daggers got 1.5 stars more in AQ and a half star more in supplements only got the bottom line "For Fans Only" and 2.5 stars in total even if it got more stars than The River. Same goes for The Great Raid with a half star more in the movie it self, one star more in both AQ and PQ and in supplement. In total it got a half star less than The River!!!

This continue with almost all the Blu-ray titles compared to the HD-DVD titles and is contradicted with other reviews on other sites.

I give Peter M. Bracke the Bottom Line "For HD-DVD fanboys only".

Edit: I did not start this thread but I was just about to start on just like it. This is not my first or second post or even my 30 post...

I don't read all the reviews on the site but one review of his that comes to mind is CRASH. The reason this one sticks in my mind is that Peter obviously hates this movie whereas I thought this movie was fantastic! Reviews like this make me really wish this site offered multiple reviews of a title. Yes I could easily browse around to other review sites but would it be such a bad idea to keep HDD my one stop review source???

Also, Would it be possible to create a review box where "we" could add our own ratings for each category?

Wow, that's interesting MrENGLISH. I kinda wish that the site had some way of using the IMDB ranking for the "Film Value" rather than one author's opinion.

Look at the "Film Value" of CRASH and you'll see a good example of this:

That's obviously not a movie that deserves its 1.5/5 star review for "Film Value."

I still think that Peter's an incredibly insightful and worthy reviewer, but keeping the 'Film Value' rating in check as well as offering different reviews of the same film might be a good idea.

One thing I think some of you are forgetting is the big picture of things. Movie reviews are prone to the reviewer's subjective opinion to some degree--always has, always will be. The same applies to those of you criticizing him--you all have a subjective view towards Peter and his reviews. While some agree with the reviews, other disagree. I can see that Peter at times may have a preference, but overal he maintains as much neutrality as possible and I commend him for that. The new reviews by Kenneth are like night and day compared to Peter--but they are people, not robots, and as long as that is true there will always be a subjective side to it.

I myself may not agree with some of the reviews, but I don't go outright and call them useless. That to me seems a bit obnoxious.

Keep in mind that the reviews alone are alot more of a service than other websites provide...and it's all at no cost to you. Some people like the movies you like, and others may not.

How would you feel if you didn't agree with someone's stance on a subject, and in turn they turn to you and say your opinion is useless??

Reviews aren't useless they are individual biased opinions which are enjoyable to read. I like to read the reviews and sometimes find useful information.

Well, I may disagree with Bracke's reviews ( I do think that he uses his own bias) maybe a bit too much but only because he's the only reviewer on this site (they need more). I usually just skip to the PQ and audio ratings and not Peter's review of the actual film because he's too inconsistent.

I do sometimes base my purchases on Bracke's PQ/audio ratings, though because they're normally right on at least on the titles I've seen.
