Default High Def Digest on IMDB

Quote:
Some Hi-Def DVD Discs Selling in the Hundreds

While much has been made of the strong high-definition DVD sales of such films as Casino Royale, The Departed, Batman Begins and Superman Returns, sales charts show a steep drop-off below the top level, with some films selling fewer than 200 copies since they were released, according to the website HighDefDigest.com. Citing figures from VideoScan, the website noted that during the week ending March 18, when Casino Royale topped the sales charts with 28,233 units sold, the "top-ten" list included one title that sold just over 3,000 units, while all the rest sold fewer than 2,000, including three that sold fewer than 1,000. The website concluded that the sales figures are "a sobering reminder" that the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats "have a long way to go in their shared quest to supplant standard-def DVD."

Sweet guys... we're moving up in life. Next thing you know, they will be interviewing us 'common folk' to comment on the state of things.

With our luck it will be the biggest fanboy they can find... "I think _____ format sux!!! They don't do anything for your video except play it! Besides ____ (the main supporting company) is full of liars, cheats, and thieves!"

LOL! Great find though illegal. It's nice to know the site is being used as a reliable source of information.

Wait a minute - some films have sold less than 200 copies since being released? Ouch... Which films?

my only concern with that is, all be it great news for the Site and Jed, it might not be the best news for the HD era.

Reason being, alot of this site is opinion. Hell 95% of it is. The only factual part is the news that WB is releasing title X on Blu-ray and Title B with DTS on HD DVD.

Most other things, including reviews, PQ and who is winning and what is better and worse are purely opinion and we have seen this many times on the web that 1 news article picks up something from source X (all be it not confirmed or reliable) and the news spreads within a week all over and is considered fact.

Most of the site is opinion, but the quality of the reporting and reviews is what sets it apart. Anyone can grab a story off a wire service or from an industry rep, but it's the quality of the commentary and the in-depth discussion of it's implications that matters when you consider the quality of sites like this. And in this dept. HD Digest is one of the best.
