Default What's missing from High Def Digest reviews

Hello,

I'm new to the forums - but not to the site, have been reading every day for the last few months!

I love the editors' reviews, very thorough, although in the back of my mind I always felt something was missing... couldn't put my finger on it.

It just hit me. For a site dedicated to HD, the ridiculously small thumbnail pictures that accompany the reviews are a big let down. If at least they were clickable to a 1920x1080 full res version...

I can only imagine the legal and technical reasons behind this lack of illustration. Still, it's disappointing. Stupid DRM.

Welcome aboard!

Well, I would love a High-Def pic of the movie but I since most montiors are under 19" and dont do 1080p, having a full 1920x1080 res wont show much! You need to have a 40+ HDTV to notice 1080p!

Just scroll

In fact, screen captures should be possible on a pc with Any HD DVD. Anyhow, just something for the editors to consider!

You also have to consider the bandwidth issues related to hosting pictures like that. Really all the pictures are meant to do is illustrate the the review. I think it would just be too high of a cost as far as bandwidth goes to host these pictures in full 1920x1080 resolution. This is JMHO though and not the official answer of the site.

Blu-Ray reviews should also list the region encoding too. There's no indication at the moment if its safe for overseas reader to import a title (although they pick out overseas titles that can be imported to the US on both HD DVD and Blu-Ray)
