Default PLEASE- Have a minimum number of posts requirement before a thread can be started

I have never understood why this forum doesn't have a minimum number of posts requirement before a user can start a thread. 10 posts sounds sufficient, since we have the same requirement before URL's can be posted. It would help combat new posters, who only want to start flame bait, but more importantly it would limit spammers who post sales threads. Thank you for your time.

+1. Or, perhaps a time to unlock, say 14 days.

I don't think the moderators are willing to try this out, as it has been suggested several times before. It was supposedly "under consideration" but since nothing has changed, I assume that they voted against it.

What bothers me more then the newbies, are the spammers. I wish there were better safe-guards against them blasting the forums with great prices on no-name cell phones from China. We all also may have been new once, but does that make idiotic, pointless flame bait threads excusable?

Some forums have it at 50 posts, but I think that's too much. Still, I second this idea and think that at least 25 posts.
