Default How many times can someone be banned without being permabanned?

GizmoDVD has been banned multiple times. He is banned now.

But yet is always allowed to come back, whereas others in the past have been banned fewer times and ultimately permabanned.

Why?

I'm afraid this is not something that can or should be discussed.
Giving out information about user accounts is not allowed and i can discuss why this thread must be closed though PM's if necessary.

I can offer however, is that the ban system is also based upon severity of infractions and not just quantity. There are many considerations that are taken into account when a decision is made.

While not addressing any specific member, it is often based upon the number of infractions, the length of time a member has been a part of these forums, and any changes in recent posting activity. New members with a bad attitude go quickly. Long standing members with occassional infractions have them time out and may get more leeway.

At some point any forum member who regularly causes trouble will come up for direct discussion by the moderators (all moderators!) and a decision is made at that time. This decision is never taken lightly by the moderators as it is not our goal to ban any forum members who choose to and want to contribute to these forums and improve the HDD website in general. Unfortunately, it is sometimes necessary.
