Default Shame on you Highdefdigest

Shame on you Highdefdigest because this is where I come for news and info in regards to High Def media. Not just HD-DVD or Blu-Ray news but all High Def news. It has been over 24 hours since the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace has released movies like Alice in Wonderland in HD, Hunchback of Notre Dame in HD and even some BR exclusives, and not a single word has been writen about it. I dont expect Highdefdigest to report on just any movie that hits the marketplace but some of these titles cant be found on HD anywhere. The fact that Disney is exclusive to BR and now their movies are showing up on the Live Marketplace is headline worthy news. I wonder what else is going on that Highdefdigest isnt reporting about. Maybe I will find another source for my info.

You do realize that this site is targeted towards Blu-Ray and HD DVD right? Xbox Marketplace is a digital download service and is basically in competition with both HD DVD and Blu-Ray for your money.

Jed posted the Amazon PS3 bundle. And considering just under half of all HD DVD players are the Add-on for the 360, it's pretty significant in context.

Have you watched any or are you assuming that you don't want to hear it. There was a comparison done between the HD DVD V for Vendetta and the XBL version, even to the extent of inverting and doing very fine analysis. They were close visually and both very significant over the DVD release. It's 720 P, so 3x the resolution of DVD and only 1/2 the resolution of 1080p, and if you can upscale a DVD to look close to High-def discs with a good upscaler, how good do you think something like 720p would look. And this is just right now anyways. There's nothing stopping going to 1080p if they wanted, it's just a choice that it's 720p, which is HD, for now.

You are right, however since HD downloads effect BR and HD-DVD this news concerns them to. Highdefdigest should not just stick its head in the sand, not report on it and act like it doesnt exist. Disney puting HD movies on any marketplace while still exlusive to Blu-Ray is news. Not good news but it is still news.

Again, the Amazon bundle specifically targeted Blu-Ray and was Blu-Ray news worthy. You get a PS3 (Blu-Ray player), instant Blu-Ray movie, Bluetooth remote for movie playback, and five free Blu-Ray movies.

The Xbox marketplace news has nothing to do with HD DVD. I am not sure how this news would help sales of HD DVD as, again, it is in direct competition with both formats.

Who the hell cares about third-rate Disney downloads? Its makes no difference in the format war.

It doesn't help either format, but it does hurt Blu-ray. Disney is now selling their HD titles to 5.5+million 360 owners in America, without the need to buy into either format. If digital distribution ends up being the future, this is a huge step forward to sign on Disney.

And as mentioned, there are 150k+ HD DVD owners who just got access to the Disney Library without buying into Blu-ray.

I don't see how this belongs in 'Smackdown.' This topic seems like it belongs more in the 'Feedback' forum.

we have very little reason to be interested in them.
