Default Biased reviews for HDDVD titles from High-Def Digest?

How does the wedding date get a 1.5/5 stars for picture quality, and DVD authority gives it 4.5/5?

Likewise hometheaterspot gives the PQ a 4/5 stars.

There seems to be a pattern here and it seems to support the case that you're being biased against HDDVD.

I've noticed a trend lately, of lower than average scores for recent HDDVD releases from your site. If this is a problem with one reviewer I'd suggest you don't let him write reviews anymore.

I would like an explanation as you've lost all credability as far as your reviews of new titles go.

Links for the reviews I mentioned are here:

Most likely because of the Blu bias from those other web pages.

One thing I think this website could do, just an idea.....is to have more than one person review each movie separately, and then discuss afterwards and come to a conclusion for the review. I believe that would help a bit with accuracy as it will be based on more than one person's point of view....

maybe this website could hire an extra reviewer and try that or something..like that

We already have Peter and Ken. It's just a review. Not everyone is going to agree with it.

the video quality for "the wedding date" shouldn't be rated highly. it is indeed filled with a lot of video noise. it looks like there are a lot of mosquitoes in the background.

Peter and Ken,

I for one, believe completely in your credibility. When the first Blu-ray movies surfaced, you guys smacked them down, and appropriately so. Just because a HD DVD fanboy can't accept the reviews of Universal's rushed to market, sloppy encoded newest releases does not negatively reflect on your judgment whatsoever.

It's unbelievable what tactics the HD DVD fanboys are resorting to these days. Talk about desperation...

Very well stated. Simply because you don't agree with a review does not mean its author has lost credibility. The reviewer has earned that position for a reason, and we should at least respect that much.

Well, part of the reason for creating the Tier thread was with this intention -- a place to voice your opinion on the PQ of a particular title. If you don't agree with a review, state your assessment so that the film earns its proper placement.

Also, if you haven't seen the film, should you really complain about the review? I just watched it today, and take a wild guess of how it looked -- bad, plain and simple. After watching the film, I would question the reviews at "HomeTheaterSpot" and "DVD Authority." The PQ has its moments, albeit very few scenes, but not enough to impress. At times, it really looks more like SD DVD with colors looking dull, full of low level noise, and even color bleeding. I, for one, agree with this review over the other two.

we have very little reason to be interested in them.
