In the April 2007 issue of SOUND AND VISION, they say the LG BH100 is a better Blu-ray player because of its inability to play supplemental content on HD-DVD. What's up with that? Oh...and it doesn't play CD's.

its a complete blu-ray player that does all the features that a blu-ray player is supposed to do. but if u even look at it, u'll see that the hd dvd logo on it isnt even the real logo. the reason for that is cuz the player plays hd dvds but doesntn have several of the features that an hd dvd player has, like HDi. it also has been reported to not play a number of hd dvds. so it really isnt a multi-format player. its a blu-ray player that can play some hd dvds with no hd dvd features

I bought one and it plays all hd-dvd's I have thrown at it. I does lack the HDi feature, so the elegant menus you get on regular hd-dvd players cannot be viewed, it has a very rudimentary menu that gets you where you want to go, just not pretty. But, I for one am in it for the movies, isn't that why we buy the darn things?
I got one in late Feb when they came out and have 50 Blue-Ray/HD-DVD titles to date. Not a single HD-Dvd has failed to play. So I would say that it is a full blown Blu-Ray player with the ability to play all HD-dvd's. It comes in handy when a title you really want like Batman Begins, King Kong, Serenity, Doom and others are only on HD and not Blu. I guess I am one of the glass is half full guys.
BTW, the picture quality is stunning in both formats even on a projected screen.

If by supplemental content you mean the extra features, behind the scenes, making of type of entertainment, that is a bit incorrect. What you cannot decode is the HDi features, like Pip directors comments or the elegant menu's you get. You can view all the extras via the rudimentary menu they give you, but as far as PIP commentaries, you do not get them. Personally I find them distracting to the film, but hey that is just me. I personally buy/rent the discs to see the movie. And yes, that is annoying but no CD play back as some of the other Blu-ray players like Pioneer are doing. That is a gaff in my opinion. That resulted in me keeping my old player in my system so I can play CD's. But judging from the picture and sound quality it is a small price to pay.
