I won't buy anything from JVC, Vizio, or other new Blu-ray CEs... until I see how they handle the new waves of Fox titles for 3-4 months, and how they release firmware to solve issues.

This is going to definitely force price drops all around. 1.1 players with no analog audio out (i.e. BDP-1500) for $99 perhaps?

Actually, I believe they are sold at Circuit City, Walmart, Target, and hundreds of online retailers including Amazon, Tiger Direct, etc. etc. etc.

In fact, If I remember right, they passed Sony and Samsung and now sell the most flat screens TVs in America.

And I'm not sure, but I believe they include a 1 year "in home" warranty service, where they come to your house and take care of any problems you may have.

Good to see in this economy...

The little guys are getting bigger, while the bigger guys are getting little(er). Good for them.

this will be really good. not only will it drive player prices down, but it will increase adoption, the sooner they get that player out the better. lets hope its by summer. Movie prices are a bigger hurdle right now though than player prices.

I gotta say I'm astonished a player with all that, especially 7.1 analog output and a BR player at that, can go for so low.
This being said I obviously hope it's reliable. I also hope there are no hiccup's in the sound decoding. I mean for the latter if it's reliable THIS could be the player that consistently gets the mass consumer market bitching about any title without Lossless audio. After all to get Lossless all people with a home theater receiver will have to do is plug in analog cables from the player to the home theater receiver.
I mean this could be what basically moves Joe Six Pack into the home audio snob department.
How many home theater receivers could people get on the cheap secondhand that this would work with ya know?

If the MSRP is 199, and Costco, BJ's, and Sam's has pallet upon pallet of them for sale at $149 as speculated.

It will pretty much force Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic to sell their base player for $169 or $179 right next to the Vizio.

Just like Vizio's TVs is why you can buy Sony and Sammy LCDs for just a couple of hundred more than Vizio's.

This is great news for the consumer indeed.
