Let's see what the pricing is regaridn this player before we all get too excited. I would love to purchase this item, but something is telling me this is going to cost a pretty penny.

DTS-HD MA decoding is a pretty big thing that none of the Toshiba players have--it also matters a whole lot, since there are many Blu-ray titles with DTS-HD MA.

If it can internally decode TrueHD and DTS-HD MA to PCM, which it apparently does, then I'm sure it could bitstream them as well, since bitstreaming doesn't require any processing by the player.

Bigot? Inaccurate? This bitstreams and decodes all the HD audio formats. No HD DVD player can do that.

Yah, true, I stand corrected. The XA2 doesn't decode the DTS-HD MA.

But the XA2 does bitstream it, which was what I personally needed. Sorry Zombie.

This looks to be the BD standalone to rule them all.

Price will probably depend on how may other full spec players are announced over the next few days. If this is the only one then the initial price will probably be around $1K. If it has competition it will be less.

Although Panasonic is a good name brand they normally don't charge "high-end" rates for their gear when compared to some of the other CE's. (Like the new Denon players).

However, I'm sure that within a few months the price will drop considerably if you can hold out that long.
