Default Steven Spielberg Films

I have a hefty list of movies I want to see on Blu-Ray, and nit least among them are Steven Speilberg films. I already have the 30th Anniversary Edition of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and it looks and sounds spectacular! This came out in 2007. It is now 2010 and this remains the only film from Speilberg on BD.

This year, I hope to see Saving Private Ryan and War of The Worlds make it to Blu-Ray... and not just some barebones release, I want a release something like Close Encounters except this time with some BD Live material and maybe a community screening. Especially War of the Worlds. I feel that films with heavy special effects benefit the most from the Blu-Ray format... and War of the Worlds has some crazy shots that look great on my 52" 120 Hz HDTV.

Also, after playing Call of Duty: World at War on my PS3, I have a new intrest in the political landscape of WWII. Saving Private Ryan would also have a welcomed place in my collection.

Anybody else have any Speilberg films they want to see in BD?

As far as Spielberg goes I have a list a mile long for Blu-ray:
Saving Private Ryan
Jurassic Park and Lost World
Indy Trilogy
Munich
Jaws
1941
Amistad
Duel
Empire of the Sun
Minority Report
Schindler's List
War of the Worlds

Maybe a good many of these will get release dates in 2010 or 2011.

I'd sell you mine as I have seen it probably 10 times, but it is Region 1 locked.

If you want to get technical, two of his films are on blu (Close Encounters of The Third Kind and Indy 4). I would LOVE to see Jaws, E.T., and Jurassic Park. Minority Report and War of The Worlds would be nice too.....both of those would make for some sweet reference discs if they are done right.

Rumor: War of the Worlds Blu-ray in June
Posted January 21, 2010 04:12 AM by Juan Calonge

According to information posted at UK retailer HMV, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Steven Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds' on Blu-ray on June 14. No information on technical specifications or special features is available at this time. Note that this is unofficial until there is an announcement from the studio.

Thanks to forum member "Johndoyle123".
I've been a little underwhelmed by Paramount catalog BDs in the past. I hope WotW gets a decent transfer and doesn't look washed out like Gladiator or Braveheart did.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced 'Minority Report' on Blu-ray. This Steven Spielberg science-fiction thriller, based on a short story by Philip K. Dick and starring Tom Cruise, will be released on a two-disc edition on April 20. A "true 4K master" of the movie had been created in late 2009 by LaserPacific post production company (see blu-ray.com, September 11, 2009).

Special features include:
The Future According to Steven Spielberg (in HD)
Inside The World of Precrime (in HD)
Phillip K. Dick, Steven Spielberg and Minority Report (in HD)
Minority Report: Future Realized (in HD)
Minority Report: Props of the Future (in HD)
Highlights from Minority Report: From the Set
Minority Report: Commercials of the Future (in HD)
Previz Sequences
From Story to Screen
Deconstructing Minority Report
The Stunts of Minority Report
ILM and Minority Report
Final Report
Production Concepts
Storyboard Sequences
Trailers
now I just need Paramount to announce Saving Private Ryan....

I just want E.T. and the Indy films. I'd probably buy Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan if they are inexpensive, but most of Spielberg's movies are so long and dull that I would never watch them again (couldn't even get through a handful of them).

Wow... to each, his own, I guess. Speilberg is a master, IMHO and even his dramas totally pulled me in to the films. I'd see anything he produces or directs.

I'm still puzzled as to why Munich still hasn't received a release date.
