Default Where are the X-Files seasons?

I know the deal with S1-S4, but S5-S9 were shot in high definition. At the very least can we get those? Work the releases backwards or something?

S5 and S6 were magic. S7 so so, and S8 and S9 left a lot to be desired.

I'd love The X-Files on BD. Even theme based sets would be better than nothing.

Season 5 to 9 wasn't shot in High-def, widescreen yes, but not high-def.

I'd settle for the 4:3 seasons on blu ray as well though, I would LOVE those in slightly sharper detail than the 1993 NTSC video

come on FOX! throw them on some discs

I'm pretty sure ever season was shot on film, but edited on video with any digital effects done in SD. You could remaster from the film originals, but you'd have to redo digital effects (granted, X-Files didn't use a lot of CG) & redo all the editing.

For the same reasons as TNG, this will likely never happen - NTSC tape masters, even on the newer SD Widescreen seasons.

A total remastering, re-editing and re-doing of effects to bring it up to HD standards - everything currently exists at 480i resolution. Although it would likely be less work than what's required on something like TNG, it'd still be a massive, expensive undertaking. And as always there's a high probability that the original 35mm film elements do not exist anymore. At least not for every minute of all 9 seasons.

Unlike Star Trek, which still has a gigantic fanbase that is most likely willing to rebuy expensive as hell seasons (and even that isn't a sure thing), X-Files just doesn't anymore. It's doubtful Fox would consider spending money to do even something as small as a "fan favorites" HD release.

That's too bad if they don't bring it to blu-ray.

Yeah, unfortuantely I think this isn't going to happen. I rememebr seeing Chris Carter doing press before I Want to Belive came out and he was asked if the seasons would come out on BD since he was preping the first movie for BD release and he said that there was a very slim chance of it happening and that since the earlier seasons were not shot in widescreen it would not be worth it. :-/

But god forbid there was a BD release I would be buying the entire series again in a heartbeat! LOL!!! :-D

I am a HUGE X-Files fan, too,and I'll leave a light on for a BD release, concurrent with whatever rumored movie is still being considered for 12/2012,to give us the proper closing of the Alien story arc!

The complete series would cost some major $$$$$ if released on blu-ray.

I'm not holding my breath for an X-Files Blu-Ray release either. I think we'll have to live with the series as it is on DVD, which is fine with me. I think the PQ of the series is good enough with the exception of Season 2, which oddly looks much blurrier and lower quality than the rest of the series (including Season 1!)
