Default So what do we have to look forward to in 2009?

2008 has been a pretty good year in terms of movie releases (of course, from my perspective, 2008 is actually 2006+2007+2008, since I went Blu in the waning days of 2007). We got four of the five Best Picture Oscar nominations of 2007, crowd pleasers like Transformers and Iron Man, and clasics like The Godfather Trilogy.

So what do we have to look forward to in 2009? Now that all the studios are on board, surely the list will be long. All the movies that will be coming out in theatres in 09, for sure, but what about catalogue titles? I hear a lot of people wishing for Jurassic Park, The Lord of the Rings, etc. Will they go Blu in 09? And so on....

We should see these for sure:

- more of the James Bond movies
- the first of the Star Trek films
- the first of the Disney classics (Sleeping Beauty this year, Pinocchio and Fantasia next year)
-Akira
- The original Metropolis with the newly discovered missing footage
- Lawrence of Arabia
etc.

If JP4 comes out next year, I say we might get 1,2 and 3.

Lord of the Rings wont be until the Hobbit.

X-men 1 and 2 maybe.

Bill Hunt said he expects the floodgates to open in 09' though

More Disney titles would be welcome - The Lion King, Mulan, and of course, every movie made by Pixar.

Snow White is 2009
Beauty and the Beast is 2010
Lion King is 2011

idk about Mulan

But Finding Nemo, UP, and 1 of (Monsters INC. Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Bugs Life, Incredibles) will be released next year.

But yes, expect plenty of Disney movies on BD next year

This should probably be in wish lists but anyway....

Of the titles announced I most look forward to Back to the Future. Metropolis will be interesting. North by Northwest too. Also Sin City.

Of stuff not announced I'd like to see the Star Trek films, some good Spielberg movies, David Lean epics, Silence of the Lambs... a lot of the films that were announced years ago and never came to fruition - Open Range, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, Se7en, The Green Mile, Dances With Wolves.
