Default Dances w/wolves perfect to showcase Blu-ray!

I really hope MGM has plans to release (as earlier planned) Dances with Wolves on Blu-ray! I think it would be a really nice movie to show what a Blu-ray can handle! The extended version runs 3 hours and 56 minutes on the SE dual sided dvd...

Hopefully, it will be worth the wait!

I think that this would still need to be a two 50gb disc set to do the film justice with DTS-MA and all the extras that were included in the Laserdisc extra features.

Funny, I was just looking at my Special Edition DVD the other day.

I really hope that when it is re-announced it'll be the 236 minute version (3h 56 min), not the originally planned release that only included the 186 min version.

And ditto on including the special features. The movie would be great by itself because of the HD upgrade but so much better if it included the extended cut and all the features.

I cannot wait for this! I actually prefer the theatrical cut, but would gladly take both. I had the 4 discs laserdisc set.

I highly enjoyed and appreciated both versions of the film. The extended cut's re-added scenes never once felt inappropriate. If this comes out on Blu-ray, even though I already have two versions of the film on SD, I will no doubt get it.

I agree, it would be an excellent film to see in HD. A lossless soundtrack would be nice as well.

The best option for everyone would be a version where the extended cut can be viewed via seamless branching. I for one prefer the theatrical cut, but people should not be forced to watch one or the other.

I was in Bestbuy today and was looking at the "RED, WHITE and Blu Ray" tabs they have to showcase various titles in the Blu Ray section, and mysteriously one of them had "DANCES WITH WOLVES" written on it.

Apparently these tabs are to draw attention to certain titles since BestBuy has their titles SPINE out. I'm not sure why they would have a tab for a title not even released, let alone announced.
