Default Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo



In my opinion, Fitzcarraldo ranks among the very best films that Herzog has ever made.
This epic tale of Klaus Kinski's dreamer who undertakes to move a steamship up a South American river to an area previously unreachable by boat and guarded by hostile Indians...
Backed by money from a Madame (Claudia Cardinale) Brian Sweeney (Kinski) succeeds where no one else has, he wins over the Indians by playing them the music of the great Opera Tenor Caruso and then gets them to haul his steamship up the mountain and into the previously un-navigated waters. But do the Indians have a very different agenda altogether for Sweeney and his ship?

An absolutely epic tale which should be a sensation on
