Default PS3 adapter to use with Harmony 880

Im in the market for an adapter for the PS3 to use with a Harmony 880. Anyone use the Logitech Harmony Adapter for Playstation 3? Is it the best option? - I just want something that is reliable.

thanks in advance

yea, the ps3 adapter is nice, but i don't know if it's just me, when "turning off" the ps3 through the adapter, the remote doesn't seem to send the command for about 5-10 seconds after i push the button, so you almost are stuck there holding the remote pointed at the ps3.

I have both the PS3 adapter from Logitech and also an IR2BT. They both work about the same. I can give you a good price on the IR2BT as I'm looking to sell it. I'll give you the power adapter and mini usb which were all extra when I bought it. Give me a PM if interested.

I use the Blu-Link from SMK. It runs around $40 but it is a great remote. Has built-in Bluetooth and infrared transmitters, can control up to 6 devices including PS3, and has the function of learning buttons. Overall a great remote, if you can overlook the buttons being a tad small.

Check it out http://www.blu-link.com/

Harmony Remote Adapter is the best. Just go with that one.

That might have to do with the order in which your devices are powered up and down. You can adjust this in the Harmony Remote software. I actually stopped having the remote turn off the PS3 because I'll have the PS3 set to auto shut down when downloading. Having the Harmony automatically shut it off interrupts the download. I just set the PS3 Off macro to one of the buttons and just hit that before shutting the rest of the system off.

I'm considering buying the Harmony Playstation 3 Adapter and was wondering does placement of the device affect control of the PS3? Do I need to place it directly in front of the PS3 in order for the PS3 to recognize commands from my remote? My thinking is it isn't necessary because of the bluetooth signal.

You need to place the unit in a spot where it can receive the IR signals from the Harmony. Bluetooth does not require line of sight to work. I have mine placed and the shelf above the PS3 under the TV where I don't have to angle the Harmony down towards the PS3 when activating that activity.
