So is it basically the cable/satellite companies keeping this awesome stuff from coming to the USA? Because for the price, I would pick this thing up. Same goes for the GPS for the PSP. Would have loved to have that here. I have a tomtom now that I got myself for Christmas. But that would have been nice.

Chances are I would buy this if it came out here. I would like a DVR. I'm thinking about building a HTPC for this but would hold off if I could get this. Maybe some time later this year the US will get this.

I wouldn't expect to see this in the US until Tru2Way starts getting more widespread, if that ever even happens.

I'd like to have a DVR as well, but I won't pay monthly for something that should be, at least in my eyes, a one time purchase.

Same here. I'd love if they just threw even an ATSC tuner in one of these and shipped for the US. I've looked (admittedly not a huge amount) for a DVR that's essentially a VCR with a hard disk to save to, and short of spending a ton of money, found nothing. I understand why people pay for Tivo and things, but it's just not worth the subscription fee to me to get guides and such.

I have been using TiVo since October 2000 and never paid a monthly fee. All you need to do is purchase a lifetime subscription when you purchase the DVR.

Cool I will look into that more then! The subscription crap is why I won't bother with the one off of Comcrap.

All I can say is that the day I bought my tivohd was one of the best purchases ive ever made for a CE product. I hated the comcast moto boxes. They are total crap. I paid a lifetime fee of like $300 and also bought another tivohd and am paying $6.95 per month because of the multi unit discount.

There is a reason why people who buy a tivo never go back. They just flat out work unlike the crappy comcast boxes.

I'm just not so sure after checking the prices for tivo. That $399 for lifetime use seems a bit steep. Will need to save up for a bit.
