Hi

Please can someone tell me if the ps3 has a auto set up ajust itself to the type of TV that you use?

Yes, it does. When the PS3 is off(with red LED on) press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep... the PS3 will configurate itself.

I'm not sure it this works on component/composite, but it works on HDMI.

grab the cables you want, plug them in and the PS3 will auto detect

To elaborate, it will detect how you have it connected, what resolutions your tv supports and what audio settings your reciever supports
