Default Anyone having problems file sharing with the PS3?

I've yet to have a video work on the PS3. I get a "cannot connect to media device error, check settings, etc." error.

I've set everything, set everything to share for every folder I'm sharing, opened many ports to share between devices, have the PS3 device accepted in windows media player, quite possibly everything one could do. It still won't play video, and I'm not sure why.

Has anyone got VLC working on a network with the PS3?

I get the same error.

Though my videos play for about 1-2 minutes, then give the error.

It works fine for me. I dont know what OS and firewall you are running, but I am using Vista with OneCare's firewall. I am able to share through Media Player and Nero's Media Home which is awesome since it can share my .mp4's.

XP, hardware firewall, Window's Media Player, but also have tried sharing via VLC and it doesn't seem that PS3 detects it.

Ug, their website is horrible. Do you know what encodes they support? I couldn't find anything out there for what their player actually supports.

Yeah I have WMP 11, though it's not working well with my PS3 for video (audio and picture sharing are fine).
