Default What setting do i put the audio on??

I've got a reciever that can decode the HD audio formats. I just got my PS3 back from repair and I have no idea what to set the audio out for. LPCM? or Bitstream? Neither of the two settings have made my reciever see TrueHD or DTS-MA yet, once it popped up as Dolby D. It also says Multi-Ch on the screen while using the PS3.

Its connected via HDMI.

Also, it seems like the audio is lower than usual, I was using another Blu-ray player until my PS3 came back and I only had to put my reciever volume on 45 for it to be loud, but i have to put it on 50+ on the PS3. I know there is an volume level on the PS3, would turning that up cause any sound problems like distorting?

Set your PS3 to pcm, it will decode everything through that setting.
