Default Amazon.com listing says PS3 is x.v.Ycc capable

In the amazon.com listing of the BDP-S300, under product features: x.v.Color, it says:
"x.v.Color
Thanks to the adoption of a newly approved international color standard called xvYCC (an option in the HDMI v1.3 spec and which Sony participated in helping to create), the color space has been greatly expanded. 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals will now be faithfully reproduced. (x.v.Color capability is available on select BRAVIA televisions, Blu-ray Disc players and the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system.)"

This gives me hope that bitstreaming Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio is possible.

You're probably going to have to wait for the S500.

x.v.Color is not the same as Deep Color. The PS3 does not contain the correct chipset to transmit bitstream over it's HDMI 1.3 connection. Also the BDP-S300 does not contain HDMI 1.3 either. Only the Samsung 1200 and the PS3 do so.

Ya, dkny ur probably right. Oh well, at least I still get PCM 5.1, and after seeing the manual for 805, doesn't really matter since it can matrix PCM 5.1 into PCM 7.1 using PLIIx. At least PS3 can do x.v.Color(same as x.v.Ycc, new color standard. dkny is right again, x.v.Color is NOT the same as deep color. i believe deep color has to do with the image, but not sure.)

Thanks for the link dajohn. My information was coming from Paidgeek over on AVS. He's the Sony Pictures insider and he got his answer from the PS3 team.

It's true, the PS3 can DEFINITLY support x.v.color. It was a little known part of the 1.81/1.82 update, although it can't be used fully right now. Again, Sony calls this "Super White", why the decide to change the name I don't know. By the way, what is an AVCHD disc? Is it BD or what???
