I notice almost all other manufacturers (including Onkyo) don't quote THD in surround sound mode, only stereo. I wonder why...

In real word independant bench testing, it comes nowhere near 10% THD.

Infact it measures the same as the Onkyo TX-SR605

0.02%THD in Dolby Digital multichannel mode.

Good to know that measurements are within the specifications on the THD side (at 1 watt per channel anyways). Doesn't change the fact that Sony is being incredibly dishonest about their power ratings. Consuming 260 watts and claiming 90 W RMS per channel (at minimum, this would require consuming 630 watts) is misleading. Liked this, straight from that bench test:

Power measurements were a bit disappointing for a receiver that claims 100 watts per channel surround-mode power into 8 ohms.

@1 watt/channel. How they handle with more demanding material is no doubt a different story (605 delivering 90 W RMS per channel vs. the 910's actual 30 W RMS).

i would say get the new Onkyo TX-SR576 it has 80w and HDMI 1.2 and excepts LPCM signals

It has a lot of really cool features (multi room front channel bi amp and 3 HDMI inputs)
