Default "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (animated) Review!

color timing is changed from the dvd, but imo the grinch looks much better.
some of the other background color changes I'm not as sure about.
$20 price for each of these is, of course, absurd imo.
I'll wait a year until they are each $10 on amazon.

Yeah, 'brighter' isn't always the answer. It doesn't look terrible though.

I agree with you on the price. These holiday animated titles aren't worth $20 a piece, especially when I paid $25-30 for the SDVD collection of eight or so. I'm on board with waiting as well.

well the overall look is a bit brighter, but I don't think that caused the massive difference in color between the "old" and "new" grinch.
the dvd grinch looks almost brown in comparison.
so in that instance the bd looks far better imo
I'm not as sold on the lighter blue snow shots though.
I kind of prefer the dvd look for that.
It would be nice to find out what it is more correct.
maybe some expert will write an article or something.

I'm in the "waiting for the Chuck Jones expert to weigh in on the changes" camp. It looks nice enough if that is how it is supposed to look, but if Warner Bros. just decided to "modernize it" it is a problem.

Director's intentions aside, I prefer the DVD color scheme, it shows its age more, which I enjoy. I rather it not look like any other cartoon on TV.

Looking forward to " A Charlie Brown Christmas" comparison too. Nevertheless, I completely agree $19.99 is way too muh for these titles that have already seen numerous douple dips on SDVD. I wonder if Christmas Blu Rays this year will see 50% off bargin bins after the holidays are over?

The blu-ray screenshots look good to me. but I am also going to wait for the price to drop on these releases as $20 is to much for a 30 minute cartoon that I already own on DVD(even though I consider this a christmas classic)

Here is an original production cel. Looks like the new colors are accurate.
