Default looking for best sound reference

hey guys.

new to the forum here, so please forgive me if this topic is a bit worn, but i've just managed to combine my ps3 and 42" HDTV to a home theater system and would really like your opinion on what blu-ray movie i should get to showcase a surround sound system. i'd like a movie that utiliazes a lot of the rear speakers. stuff blowing up, bullets ricocheting, that kind of thing... something where you gotta turn your head around to make sure nothing is behind you.

thanks in advance!

Go to reviews, organize by audio review... Anyway Quantum of Solace sounds great.

I still think Wanted is the best sounding disc out there.

Terminator 2 is great for wowing ppl (from where john, the T-1000 and arnold all meet in the mall, all the way to the Tow truck chase) because everyone has seen it but have no idea how good it can sound.

Or cloverfield. Quantum of solace is good too because it also LOOKS great

this is pretty much the opposite of what most audio editors want their movies to sound like

the surrounds should help immerse you in sound, but if they're ever drawing your attention away from the screen, then they're either too loud, placed incorrectly, or the movie is poorly mixed

Wanted is good but nothing has topped Live Free or Die Hard for me (especially the tunnel and power plant scenes)

Also i would list Kung Fu Panda, Matrix Series, Band of Brothers, Incredible Hulk, Cloverfield, and Batman Begins/Dark Knight

Give Shoot 'Em Up a try (DTS-HD MA 7.1); there's never a shortage of surround use. Of course, your receiver needs to be able to accept (and use) a multichannel PCM signal from the PS3; otherwise, you'll only get the "core" track.

Transformers from the 1:42 mark until the 2:12 mark........might be the BEST 30 minutes of HT audio, hope you have a good sub.

All of The Bourne films, The Dark Knight, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace; Hellboy 2; i, Robot. There are tons of other great demo discs out there but these are the ones I could think of right now.

ah... i guess that would make sense. i keep looking for movies where there's a swooping audio effect like in "Cars", where you can feel the cars going around the track and transitioning from speaker to speaker. likewise, i would imagine any war movie would sound good where bullets missing you and hitting something behind would be a nice effect. i'll have to check out batman begins... i keep hearing that one pop up over and over again. something about the scarecrow effect.
