Yeah Universal had stated this would be coming in '09 last year. I can't wait. This is my favorite werewolf film.

This by far is the best werewolf film ever IMO.

Perhaps it will be used to help promote The Wolfman via BD-Live?

I forgot what the differences will be between this and the previously released HD DVD, other than the DTS HD MA track. Anyone know? I'm kinda on the fence as I've been considering getting this from iNetvideo.com for a while for 3.99.

If there's a new transfer/remastering I may hold off, but if it's a couple of extras I don't really care.

That'd make sense. I suspect that's when Van Helsing will be released on BD as well. Although, it's weird that one just came out in the UK last month.

The article at bloody-disgusting mentions a "digital cleaning of the negative" (Landis' own words). That sounds to me like a new master was struck and there was some restoration performed.

The HD DVD was also one of the crummy single layer (HD-15) combos that had most of the extras on the DVD side of the disc.

There's been mention of a new 90 minute retrospective documentary that will be on the blu-ray as well (the HD DVD only had the 2001 CE extras).

I own this on HD DVD but if the 90 minute documentary is on it I will definately get it. Even though I probably will end up getting it anyway.

I just bought the HD DVD of this yesterday for $3. So, I think I'll pass on the Blu Ray version.
