Default So I Bought Cadillac Records From a 3rd Party Seller on Amazon...

It was supposed to be new, but there are several reasons why I don't believe this to be the case. First of all the packaging looks shrink wrapped, it's in an Elite case (I don't have any other Sony Blu-Rays with Elite cases), there are several scratches on the case, and finally the case art is unevenly cut on the right side (like someone cut it with scissors). Also the disc art looks very low res but I can't say if it's supposed to look like that or not because this is the first time I've seen the disc on Blu-Ray.

So my guesses are that this is either used and repackaged, or bootleg. I did test the disc on my PC and everything looks ok. I got it for a decent price, but I don't appreciate someone trying to sell me something as new when it's obviously not. Does anyone own copy of this movie that they know for sure is legit and can at least confirm how the disc art looks or the numbers at the bottom of the disc. Should I complain to the seller or just let it slide?

I've only bought 1 title for dirt cheap ($5) on AMZ Marketplace and was happy with the outcome. If they sold you a used product repackaged I would contact them. Maybe they'll refund you a few dollars.

I also received a "brand new sealed" BD from the Amazon Marketplace a month or so ago which clearly has not. It was also a Sony movie but was in an Elite case. That was a dead giveaway it wasn't new IMO. The art and disc were legit though. Seller refunded and let me keep the disc so everything worked out in the end. I hope your seller is as decent.

Either of you guys mind naming names and telling others the name of the sellers? I'm wondering if there's a pattern and/or if it's the same seller gaming the system repeatedly?

Do these sellers have good reps? I never buy shit, in general, from buyers with a rating of less than 94%.

I apply my eBay rule, if its under 98% feedback I probably skip it. Often you can get movies from a 98-99% reseller for a buck or two more than some 93% schmoe. Not worth the risk to save so little.

Obviously any reseller can screw up, but so far I've never been burned by sticking to my seller requirements. I got a totally scratched up CD once that was supposed to be "like new" and the guy appologized and immediately sent out a mint CD. That's the sort of service you can expect from someone trying to maintain a near 100% feedback. YMMV.
