I would think all these cheesy Alliance releases of Universal catchup titles would result in Universal being even less likely to bring them over to Blu themselves.

Only in Canada.

TBH, Alliance isn't much more than a clearing house for films they license from other studios. They're just about the same as what Anchor Bay was back a decade ago.

If Universal/Disney wanted them out of the picture for the canadian market, they'd get them out.

As it stands, it doesn't affect US sales on any grand level since you have to go through quite a bit of hassle/cost to get titles from Canada (at least more than just going out to Best Buy...)

True...but increasingly, online US shops are carrying them (Tower, Amazon.com, etc.), which likely has some impact on sales with those consumers who have been eagerly awaiting their release and whose patience has dried up.

Traffic @ Amazon.com

I'm fine with these Alliance releases. Almost all of their releases have had fantastic PQ/AQ and I don't mind that there's there's no special features/extras, especially at the very low prices they usually sell at.

Oh sure. Totally fine that they're 1080i and many have incorrect aspect ratios.

You know...it's the little things...

There's only a few titles @ 1080i. The vast majority of titles are 1080p and not a single Alliance title I own is 1080i. Also, which have incorrect aspect ratios?

Looks like at least half of them are 1080i.

I'm not sure what other titles do but I know for sure Running Scared has an incorrect aspect ratio. I believe it is a 1080i title as well.
