Default Original 'Godzilla' Stomps onto Blu-ray in September

From BD.com:
Quote:
Independent studio Classic Media enters the high-definition arena with its digitally-remastered release of the original 1954 Japanese big-monster classic 'Gojira' (also known as 'Godzilla, King of the Monsters') on Blu-ray on September 22. No detailed specs were given at this time.

The disc will include both the original Japanese version and the heavily-edited US version, for which the distributors worked actor Raymond Burr in the movie, by using doubles and new footage to make it look like Burr was interacting with the Japanese cast.

Extras for this release include:
  • Audio commentary by Godzilla experts Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski
  • 'The Making of the Godzilla Suit' and 'Godzilla: Story Development' featurettes
  • Theatrical trailers

Tempting - I bought Classic Media's DVD of Gojira a few years ago, I only got to watch it once, so its not like it demands a double dip to , but its still tempting...

The Godzilla flicks bring back childhood memories of watching TV on Saturday afternoons. Very tempting...

I might buy it, but it depends. I am a huge Godzilla fan, but I just do not see how this can look better, and will they do an uncompressed audio track? If it does, then it will definitely be a must buy, but I would rather have the Heisei and Millennium series on Blu-Ray, especially since most of those I own are Region 2 DVDs.

Okay, I'm retracting what I said, I cannot wait to buy this. The blue case just fits so well with the artwork that it jumps out at you and tells you this is a must buy.

However, this will be the third time I have bought it, as I bought it the region 2 DVD, the CM DVD, and now I'll be getting the BR.

BTW, Gamera comes out in Japan in Aug.
