Default Blind Blu-Ray Buys?

have any of you ever bought a movie on blu-ray, even though you had never even seen it before?

i'm sure some of you have bought a lot of blu-rays this way, since so many of you have big collections

the only ones i've bought this way:

The Fall
Rescue Dawn

and i will probably add Quantum of Solace to that list soon.
and i might buy the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, even though i haven't seen the 3rd film

the main reason i do this is because i know it's a movie i need to see in HD, i'm am pretty sure i will like the movie enough for repeated viewings, and i don't like to spend the money renting a movie if i think i might buy it eventually. that's almost kind of double-dipping, isn't it?

I do from time to time. Both of the latest Bond films were blind buys and I had NEVER seen even a minute of a Bond film before. I also ordered "Benjamin Button" and I have not seen it. Not very many though;

Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace
Pineapple Express
The Incredible Hulk
Amadeus
Benjamin Button

I never really understood the blind buy, particularly at $15-25. I do own some blind buys, but not a single one was more than $3. A movie like Amadeus has been out so long on the format, it means you are blind buying a movie you passed up everytime you had the chance to rent a movie on DVD or even for years on VHS.

A BR blind buy at this point is a safer bet than most as they have a very decent resale value. Assuming you get a good deal on one.

lmao, it's nice to know i'm not the ONLY one

Why buy a movie if i've already seen it? It'll just sit there on the shelf while i watch movies i've NEVER experienced before...

yeah, considering movie tickets these days are often $10, blind-buying isn't such a bad idea

you can be in the comfort of your own home, not deal with people you don't know making noise around you, and snack on any food that you want

not to mention the audio and video quality in theaters is often terrible

i'll be happy if the day comes that movies are released to buy the same day they are released in theaters

I blind bought quite a bit last year. But this year, the blind buys I had bought were awful so I am trying to curtail my blind buying habits. But one blind buy that I know I will be making (and liking) is Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans.

I think maybe 25% of my BD's are blind buys. I don't do it much anymore due to cost. I Netflix a lot more of the stuff I would normally blind buy.
