Default Casino Royale SE grain

Do you guys notice grain throughout the BD on your copies?

I was in a shop today and they were playing CR SE and there was noticeable grain. As if they were playing not a legit BD but a d/l.

What say you?

Maybe the TV had sharpness set up wayy too high. Usually they do in shops. Looks better to the average joe

I say: What an anti-climatic waste of a 2nd post, a post that was nearly two years in the making...

Who knows. It was a computer shop. Actually one of those Tiger-Direct looking type of setups. But in a much smaller scale. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have the Panasonic plasma setup wrong. Though, the guy behind the counter claims he's played the CS SE blu-ray on different monitors and got the same grain. Shrug.

Do you guys have this BD? Do you see the grain or is it virtually non-existent?

The opening black and white sequence is exceedingly grainy. It's supposed to be.

After those opening scenes, the film is largely "virtually nonexistent" when it comes to grain. Sure, there is a thin veil on occasion... but its nothing over intrusive and isn't anything other than a natural, light level.

Ok. Then maybe it was the way they had their plasma setup in the shop. Because the grain was noticeable. Maybe they had the sharpness dialed in too high. Or as I said they might not have been playing the disc but a "download". And I'm not even sure if they were using HDMI cable...

I'll find out later when I get my new HT system and rent a copy of CS SE.

They probably had the TV connected by a Composite video cable, and turned the Sharpness setting all the way up.

That's exactly how it looks. A bit too much gain. Couldn't have been using HDMI. Do you have this BD? How is the picture quality on your setup?

The SE uses the same transfer as the original edition and looks fine. In fact, the complaint most made about it is that it has too little grain!
