Default Disney Provides Multiple 'Snow White' Blu-ray Options.

From bd.com
Quote:
In an early announcement to retailers, Walt Disney Home Entertainment has revealed that they will provide fans with multiple options for the upcoming Platinum Edition Blu-ray release of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs', which is due to hit store shelves on October 6th, seven weeks before the DVD release.

The standard Blu-ray release, which can be seen/pre-ordered here, features Blu-ray packaging, and features the Witch holding the poisoned apple.

There will also be a 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (DVD Packaging) which will have the same discs, but in a DVD case featuring Snow White on the cover. This version is obviously to appease DVD fans who don't want to adapt to the new, smaller form of Blu-ray disc cases.

For collectors, there will be three options. The first, and least expensive at an MSRP of $60, is the 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Collectors Book Set)' which will feature a book along with the Blu-ray release. The second is 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Dwarf Plush Gift Set)' at an MSRP of $80. This set will feature the Blu-ray release along with a collectible plush of one of the dwarfs. And finally, at a MSRP of $250, is the 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Limited Edition Collector's Set)'. While final details about what will be included in that set are yet to be finalized, you can expect some extra special.

All five releases will features the film on both Blu-ray and DVD so that it can be watched in your home theater and on the go in your car without having to buy to separate releases.

We'll have more details as they become available.

Default Story Update

***UPDATE***

Quote:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on Blu-ray has been multiplying like Gremlins at Amazon.com over the past 24 hours. What was originally expected to be a single Blu-ray Disc version from Disney on October 6 now stands at a whopping FIVE offerings strong.
Let's try to make some sense of all this.

The first version is the obvious choice with two-discs of Snow White on Blu-ray packaged with a third disc of the film in standard definition DVD in Blu-ray packaging. This one retails for $39.99.

The next version is essentially identical *except* it will be packaged in DVD packaging and marketed to DVD buyers. This format is an industry first and new attempt to penetrate the DVD ownership base with Blu-ray Discs.

From here the price begins to escalate. The Snow White Collector's Book Set is expected to include the Blu-ray + DVD version of the movie packaged with a book. It retails for $59.99.

For $79.99 you can pick up the Snow White Dwarf Plush Pack Set that includes a small plush of all seven dwarfs.

Last, but certainly not least, the granddaddy of them all: the Snow White Limited Edition Collector's Set. It will include at minimum the Blu-ray + DVD set housed in a red box case with a hardcover book, stills, and lapel pins of the seven dwarfs. The SRP is set at $249.99.

ok so let me get this right--
while other studios are pushing this ridiculous eco-friendly case which I HATE with a passion, Disney is going in reverse and offering a blu-ray in a dvd case.
wow.
btw: if the studios are so concerned about the earth why the hell don't they start offering dvds in black bd sized cases.
that would save a TON of plastic right?
oh I forgot--it has ZERO to do with the helping the earth.

Wow pretty high price for Snow White.

I like the Blu-ray case better, because the BD cases are smaller thinner cases and take up less room, then a DVD case.

Seriously....250...for that? WOW....rather spend 250 on something else. Nice try Disney....I'll stick with the regular SW Bluray.

Well it's not intended for average consumers, so I'm sure HUGE fans will enjoy it. I only want the movie, no need for pictures and pins...
