Default Question about "Special Edition" copies of movies

I started noticing Special Edition copies of movies that had come out a year or more before it like "Stranger Than Fiction" was the very first one I've noticed. They came out with a "Special Edition" version of it over a year later. Now they're coming out with an X3 - The Last Stand Special Edition on Blu-Ray.

My Question is: Besides a few extra additives to the menu of the movie, is the resolution of the later copy (The Special Edition one) a little better too since it came out later? Or are those additives on the menu just the only difference? Cuz if I compared the Special Edition of X3 to my version of the original Blu-Ray edition of X3 that I got almost two years ago, I wouldn't see a difference as far as clarity resolution, right? Let me know you experts. I know yall have got an answer.

Thanks!

The video on No Country For Old Men and Stranger Than Fiction is identical to the original release.

Not sure about X3 but the screencaps on DVD beaver look like the original release.

Sounds like they only added more dubs for X3.

It makes sense to re-release X3 since they are debuting the first two on BD and they wanted to make it a box set. All the movies will have digital copy too.

it would be nice if they re-released all of the early MPEG2 25 GB disks with better quality video.

If it can make Castaway look in anyway better than it does on BD (it looks amazing), then I'm game for that.

Thanks everybody! Then I'll just keep my originals.
